Past customer. They damaged our goods, over charged us, added amounts to our move and refused to deliver until they got cash. I took them to court and they lost. Judge heard the facts and awarded us a judgement against them of over $1500. They refuse to pay or acknowledge. This is the kind of business they run. DONT USE THEM!

They lied to me from the start promising things they didn’t deliver. Damaged the walls in my house when they picked up furniture and then when I got my belongings they were scratched, dented, missing, boxes crushed. Then damaged walls in my new house. To file a claim is a day long chore and if it doesn’t meet their standards it is denied. The drivers on both ends were aware of damage they did and said they reported it but it’s been 6 months and I have yet to hear from them.

The search started out well. The first guy I spoke to told me everything I wanted to hear. The price was perfect, they would work with me on pickup and cross country delivery of furniture. Then reality hit. The guys came to load up the truck and immediately told me it would be several hundred $ more than what I was told, because the number quoted me was merely an ‘estimate’. This little glitch just made me send less stuff than I had planned. Next came the delivery—OMG!!! I was told that they ‘would be able’ to deliver our things to Arizona on X date. On X date, I called the mover to find out what time to expect the truck—they said in about 9 days!!!

When the items were finally delivered, we found that the furniture had been subcontracted out and was on a semi with a single guy delivering and setting up. Many of the items had been damaged during the move and a large mirror and rug were both lost in the process. I have never gotten any responses from Mile High Van Lines when I tried to reach out to them regarding damages. I picked MILE HIGH because they were a local Colorado company. This was one of the most disappointing experiences with way more frustrations than necessary. Lesson learned. Pay the money—save the headache/heartache/hassle.

      Reviewed April 4, 2021

If you are considering Mile High Van Lines (MHVL) as a moving service, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I was instructed by my job to obtain 3 binding quotes for moving estimates. MHVL was within our budget and all but guaranteed our items would be delivered by March 1st. The salesmen strongly suggested over and over that March 1st was not a problem and they could get our stuff transported in that timeframe. Another moving competitor suggested I get a guaranteed delivery date in our contract in order to ensure our stuff would actually show up on March 1st. So I contacted the salesmen from MHVL and asked him about guaranteed delivery. He told me that including the guaranteed date would take the quote above my company’s moving budget, but he said without the guaranteed date we should still receive our items by the 1st. With his “reassurance”, we decided to go with MHVL to move across the country.

The movers picked up our stuff on February 21st. We were expecting a week of no stuff with a newborn baby, a challenge in itself already. On March 3rd, I had not heard from MHVL to set up a drop off date, so I called the gentleman I had been communicating with to set up the move. He said he would get back to me. He returned my call a day or two later and said our stuff had left the 29th and we should be getting a call soon to organize the delivery. So I called again on March 8th to talk to a gentleman who let me know they had a driver for the move and our items had actually just left on Friday (March 5th). On March 11th, we are told our stuff will be delivered the next day around 1 pm, almost 2 weeks after we were told it would be delivered. While we do understand we did not pay for a guaranteed delivery date, we feel misled by the salesman’s “guarantee”.

On March 12th, the driver shows up at 4 pm with no additional movers. Instead of “door-to-door service” as our contract stated, the driver and I had to spend over 4 hours moving in the stuff. By the time we finished it was dark, my wife had been busy with our newborn, and we did not have time to do the full inventory. The driver had us sign the form stating we received our items and told us we should email the office about the damaged items (our chest of drawers and a few other smaller items). The next day when we finally had time to start unpacking, we found out our diaper pail, floor lamp, and step ladder were not delivered. We also received some other family’s box of stuffed animals (the box had an orange label and ours were pink labels). Frustrated with the damaged/missing/extra items, we contacted MHVL via email to discuss all of these issues and have received no response from them.

We are writing this review so people are aware of what they are getting into and to suggest you avoid this moving company (we had other companies give similar quotes without making “guarantees” they had no intention of trying to uphold). The positives: they were reasonably priced, the movers that picked up our stuff were all quite friendly, as was the driver who made the delivery. The negatives: they lied about the estimated delivery date, we received some damaged items, we are missing some items, we received extra items (which are still sitting in our garage until we figure out whether we can get them to the family they belong to if MHVL ever emails us back), and when we tried to contact them regarding these issues we received no response.

      Reviewed Dec. 21, 2020

Updated on 02/04/2021: I posted a review back in December. Things have taken a turn for the worse. About a quarter of my belongings are still missing. Numerous items damaged beyond repair. To replace the items it would be around $4000, about the cost of the move. Some items cannot be replaced. Family heirlooms are gone. The company has offered $200. What an insult. I have contacted every media outlet I can find. I am filling out every review that I can. The company doesn't care. I had a manager tell one of the media outlets that they would do everything they could to make me happy. Turns out the person wasn't even a manager. We were to the owners won't even pick up the phone to talk to the media. I am now filing in small claims court. I am going back on a radio show to say they refused to make things right.

Original Review: The company came recommended by friends. I was disappointed. When booking the agent was friendly and personable. Pointed out differences between them and a moving company broker. I told them upfront I was VERY budget conscious. I was told, "Don't worry. We will work with you to keep it in your budget." I was warned about "other" companies underbidding and then the price being much higher on the day of the move, when it's too late to rebook or you need to move right then. Well, that's exactly what happened. The day of the move it suddenly was $1200 more! When I mentioned I was told they would work with me, NOTHING. Just told, "You're over the space. We have to charge you. But, we will hold your things 30 days." THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS for pickup and delivery only cash or cashier's checks.

Items were left behind that I had to try and pack in my personal vehicle. Making a crowded cross country move even more uncomfortable. At the time of loading, I was told numerous times, "I'm not taking advantage of you." This made me feel the exact opposite. Why would you feel you had to tell me that if in truth you weren't? However, they arrived quickly. Quicker than I did so, I guess this is a positive.

Just a warning to others, even with COVID, insist on an in person bid. Don't rely on just a moving checklist. Have them quote extra large boxes. (Supposedly, this was the reason for the increase.) I even shared with them other quotes so they could help me with comparing. Moving is very stressful. Especially, when you are by yourself. This added days of extra stress and anxiety trying to figure out how to come up with an additional $1200 during a pandemic and the Holidays. I have a storage unit I need moved this Summer, I told them upfront there could be a 2nd job. Well, there will not be for this company.

DO NOT HIRE MILE HIGH VAN LINES. Run as fast as you can away from this company. Also, this is NOT a local Colorado company. They're allegedly based in FL, so their name is just a ruse. Justin ** was our rep and was super friendly and easy to communicate with while he was trying to get our business. Since we've had complaints, he's suddenly not as accessible, certainly not empathetic. The move-OUT was fine. No major complaints there, aside from them wildly underestimating how much space we'd need and instead of sending a second truck after the first was full, they spent about 3 hours returning the truck to their warehouse, unpacking it, and then returning with the same truck for the second load. It was strange and certainly made a long moving day even longer. (Even one of the crewman commented on how little sense it made).

The move-IN was awful. It began a day before they were set to arrive, I started receiving texts reminding us we would need to pay the second half of the total once the movers arrived or they would refuse delivery. (Also worth noting: they ONLY accept cash or money orders-crazy inconvenient). Then suddenly I was getting texts saying we would actually owe MORE than the original total we were given. When I asked why, he simply told me to call a 1-800 number, so I did. The man I spoke to admitted that he had no idea why were being charged more than the original total: “All I can figure is it’s for extra packing material, sorry I don’t have any more info than that.” We we were essentially put into a position of having to fork over more money than originally agreed upon because these guys were holding our things hostage until we paid them.

Regarding the actual move-in, so much went wrong but I’ll highlight the most egregious: Soon after the move began, we had 6 random dudes show up here asking about a Craigslist post. It’s fine if they’re subcontractors, but these guys looked and acted like they literally just walked in off the street. No masks, no gloves. One of them was here for all of 10 minutes, unboxing and checking out all our stuff before he got in his truck and took off. Another guy cut himself and sprayed blood all over the walls of our hallway. They had no first aid kits or supplies so we had to dig through our boxes to find something for him. The “driver” and apparent foreman of this job pretended to only speak a handful of words of English, including “me just driver.” He definitely didn’t mention that he crashed into one of our trees and knocked an entire limb down.

Nothing was reassembled — we’re missing hardware on our daughter’s bed and missing ALL of it for our kitchen table. When the foreman was asked why nothing was put together, in his broken English he answered with “Not our job!” Only 2 guys actually asked where anything went — there’s random/wrong boxes in every room, all very clearly labeled. They left one of our large televisions just laying on our disassembled sectional couch, and another screen down on a wood and metal coffee table. Our antique radio console is laying on its side with a leg torn off and another hanging by a thread. A corner was totally broken off of a solid wood bookcase. Our antique chair is missing casters from the 2 back legs. Laser printer was in pieces and now not functional. Boxes clearly labeled "fragile" were clearly thrown around; everything was wrapped in bubble wrap and delicate collectors items still arrived broken.

3 or 4 boxes full expensive books and photo albums were absolutely drenched — so sopping wet they fell apart as one of the guys tried to bring it inside, all of the books in them destroyed, as if the boxes were just left in the rain for a few hours at some point during the move. One of our desks was completely broken in half — the only connecting support piece from one side of the L to the other was ripped off and snapped in the middle. Now unusable. The crew dropped trash EVERYWHERE, and when we asked about it, the driver/foreman laughs and said “you buy packing, you get trash.” (This guy laughed at absolutely everything, even when we were very obviously unamused; it made for some incredibly awkward and maddening encounters).

Every single other moving company we’ve hired in the past has not only been courteous enough to take boxes to the right rooms and re-assemble furniture, but clean up after themselves and take their trash with them when they left. We inevitably spent more than a month of weeknights and weekends reassembling our furniture, and actually moving boxes of our stuff to the right rooms before we could even begin to unpack. This was basically a half dozen parolees and drunks dump our damaged stuff and take off with 4k+ of our money, without even attempting to finish the job and worse, displayed absolutely zero empathy regarding all that went wrong.

For a $9k job, their idea of making it right is offering us $300 and a signed statement saying we can’t hold them any further liable. Just to be clear, that's about 3% of nine grand. (Oh, and if we want that $300 we have to supply receipts or proof of purchase of all of our damaged items, as if that's a reasonable request). We responded saying that wasn’t acceptable and now they’re ignoring us.

"Not good" is an overestimate. In its own documentation, Mile High Van Lines (MHVL) declares that if the load-weight is under the estimate, they will refund the difference. The load-weight for my dad's stuff was way under the estimate (an estimate the movers insisted on re-writing and increasing on the day of the move!), but MHVL would not refund a difference of about a thousand dollars. We took MHVL to Denver Small Claims Court and won. The judge ordered MHVL to pay the difference (along with court and travel expenses), but as of this posting they have refused. This behavior and more (inaccurate delivery times, damaged goods, etc.) inclines me to think that MHVL is in it for the money; they are, as was said elsewhere, "scam artists."

This will be the first bad review I have ever written. As a business owner myself, I understand that things can go wrong and if handled correctly, your customer will be satisfied. However, with Mile High Van Lines, this was not the case. The Senior Moving Consultant, Justin, was an awesome salesman. He definitely won me over and sold me a bag of goods. Promising that he would be there “every step of the way”, gave me his cell, so we could text or talk. He was there every step, up until he got his payment. Then, crickets. I had issue after issue. I tried to get a hold of him. Still nothing. In the end, we got stuck with a bill and service that was not promised. So fair warning, go SOMEWHERE else! Let me be the last sucker that Mile High Van Lines fool.

Wanted to finish unpacking my boxes before I wrote a review. For someone like myself who has had to use professional moving services exactly 3 times in the last 3 years I can guarantee this has been by far the most professional and easy to work with company I have ever dealt with. Joshua (sales rep) did an over the phone walkthrough estimate of how much space I would need according to the items I was listing. Provided a quote of $5,600 for my 3 bedroom house. We agreed I would have my boxes and bins ready and the guys would take care of disassembling all the big pieces of furniture as well as protecting them with pads and blankets. Josh was always as he promised "one call away from me" and I wanna thank him for always picking up as well as providing an accurate upfront price.

I also want to thank Sergey and his team for doing everything so fast and taking such good care of my goods. Tom and Justin in customer service were also super helpful and kept communicating with me all the way through making it easy for me at the delivery as well. Top notch service from these guys makes me wish I would of found out about Mile High Van Lines for my two first moves. Overall, great service. I will definitely be recommending this company to all my friends and family.

Mile High Van Lines should NOT be in business! This has been one of the most HORRIBLE experiences I've ever experienced! We feel totally violated by this company in every way a moving family could experience.

      1. Terrible Communication from everyone
      2. Storm delay of 2 days but I had to spend hours trying to find when the movers would arrive.
      3. Movers (2) were from the country of Georgia with terrible English making things very difficult to communicate.
      4. Brought only a 26' Truck and they had to go to the warehouse to unload and come back the following day.
      5. They were however very hard workers and packaged and wrapped furniture etc very well.
      6. I was informed our original estimate of $4800 was wrong and they supposedly accounted for $3480 which now was a total of $8,280.00 to deliver ONLY 588 miles...
      7. I think we were totally over charged!!!
      8. Our possession were picked up on October 30th and somewhat delivered on November 10th, which was totally unacceptable as we had to sleep on the floor for over a week with no furniture.
      9. Again NO communication from movers when delivery would be made even after multiple calls to confirm.
      10. On Sunday November 10th we get a call that the movers would be arriving approximately 3 PM...
      11. Movers determined they could not get an 18 wheeler into our sub division.
      12. We had to pay $1000.00 more for a shuttle truck which finally showed up at 7PM Sunday evening.
      13. Unloading was completed about 10PM Sunday Night with multiple issues involved.
      14. These movers (2) could also speak little English and communication was impossible.
      15. They tried to deliver the wrong table top belonging to our Oak Dining room set, which is still missing.
16, My Craftsman Tool Chest was missing but found and delivered about 2 weeks later.
      17. They deliver a marble piece to our (still missing) Antique Hall Tree?
      17. Both my wife and I have tried dozens of times to communicate with these people only to hear we are working on it! NOT acceptable.
      18. My wife tried to reach a Bill at 970-818-2877 who is in management of some kind and he told here twice to ** OFF as he was walking his dog! Again totally unacceptable.
      19. Again we feel totally violated and NOT going away from this terrible experience until we get compensated for our losses and anguish!
      20. We have a moving cost of $9280 + Damaged or Lost amounts of $5200 plus $10,000 for mental anguish creating a total of $24,480.00 we expect reimbursed from Mile High Van Lines.

      21. We have our Law Firm standing by waiting for me to advise them of the action taken by Mile High Van Lines and yourselves.
